Guess what I've gotten back into recently? Cross-stitching!

I've been making various ranger helmets (as seen before) but now I've also gone into Doctor Who, making a full on bookmark for myself!

I also have an SPD bookmark I'm incredibly proud of!

So, what does everyone think?

Do not panic me by emailing me that my financial aid has been suspended effective immediately.

It was a computer glitch--I got an incomplete in a class because records screwed up grades for summer. For fifteen minutes, I was panicking since I leave for Arizona tomorrow at 4am. Then the Director of Fin Aid himself called to apologize--they knew about the screw up with records but somehow it still screwed with five students financial aid for the class.

*glowers*

*brightens*

On the flip side, I finally got my final portfolio for my creative non-fiction back. Dr. Mac is notorious for being blunt and completely honest in his comments and to be honest, I was a little hesitant to read his comments. He's incredibly hard to impress as he's an editor with a non-fiction journal and he's the non-fiction and grammar professor in the English department. It takes a lot to impress him.

I shouldn't have been worried. Apparently, he likes my writing.

In other news? LESS THAN 24 HOURS BEFORE WE LEAVE FOR ARIZONA AND THEN, CALIFORNIA!!!!!

This was probably the hardest essay I've ever written.

So, new non-fiction peice. I may turn this into one part of a segmented essay. It deals with the funeral of my cousin Lacey.

Dear Mickey Mouse Asswipes

Rapunzel is the tale
of a demur girl confined in a tower
by an evil witch. It is about how
she is forced to watch and learn
of the world from her lonely
one-room tower with her
only companion being
the witch who confined her
in the first place. It is about
this sweet, naive girl
finding the strength to defy
her warden.

Its is not about
a swash-buckling hero
named Flynn Rider
who seems to have been taken
from "The Bold and the Beautiful"
and how he stumbles upon
a feisty teen girl who just
happens to have 70 feet
of pretty blond hair
that he can use for a rope ladder
and that she uses
to tie him up.

I do not know why
you feel the need
to rename a princess flick
into something that sounds
like a Lifetime movie about a
murdered salon owner
but I lament the fact
that a princess movie can
no longer be named for its princess
because you, who seem to have
lost your sanity
believe young boys would rather
go see "Tangled" instead of "Rapunzel."

My only consolation
is that Walt Disney
is not alive to see
how you have turned
his dreams into a
monetary obsession.

So, tsukino_akume has decided to enter a writing competition. She'll be doing some fort of fiction and is totally gonna be awesome at it. *nods firmly*

Seeing her decide to do this has pushed me to try as well...though I'll be doing poetry instead of fiction cause, yeah, not gonna happen.

The maximum number of lines for the poetry is 32 which means my poem "Breathe" is out. "Sierra's Gift," however, I can enter if I take out all the line breaks and fiddle with the white space. I can also enter "Craving the Tunnel" because its 31 lines (whew!) as well as "Moniker" and "Archaeology."
