So, a RL friend and I are both Sherlock BBC fans (she got me into it, damn her). As I mentioned on Twitter that we've been spending our lunch break planning a fic where, as an experiment, Sherlock decides to see what would happen if he sent anonymous love poems to John.

We've since decided that because he's Sherlock and Mrs. Hudson is the co-conspirator, all of them are gonna be Shakespeare sonnets. So B and I are going through our anthologies, going through the sonnets, and messaging back and forth with ones that are very perfect for the boys.

Only every so often we come to sonnets or lines that remind us of the Episode Which Shall Not Be Named and...grrr.

Sonnet 88, lines 10-11
For bending all my loving thoughts on thee,
The injuries that to myself I do.

So far, we have a little over half a dozen sonnets chosen mostly because we keep getting distracted by the epic fangirl flailing of each other. :)

I was informed earlier today that I...can become emotionally stupid. I have this thing where if I thing where if I think someone is getting too close to the real me, I pull away and I pull away hard. Only a handful of people outside my immediate family have ever pulled back and made sure I realized I was being stupid. Two of them I've known since childhood and the third has a bipolar husband and is a stubborn little woman.

That said...I'd like to apologize. Since about Morphicon '10 I pulled away from fandom. I did so abruptly and fully and I know I left a ton of people in the lurch. I freaked out, plain and simple, and I shouldn't have. You guys are awesome, supportive, and amazing friends and I was an idiot.

So. I'm sorry.

Thanks for reading.

So, thanks to my awesome flist, I am no longer panicking about the immigration UK border thing.

Now, in fact, we're planning a few more things. We have tickets to see Wicked on Monday and we'll have all day Sunday to do the touristy thing in London.

One thing we decided to do is have lunch somewhere in London in something of a group setting, maybe Saturday or Sunday, March 12/13? Would any of my UK peeps be able to make it to London for a group lunch where everyone is a PR fan? Let me know!

So, I said before my cousin Justin, my sister, Katie, and I had been planning on going around with the kids but that changed--Justin had to go to Denver to get his apartment and Mandy and Trish decided to go out with the kids themselves. So Katie went to a party instead. I ended up staying in at my aunt and uncle's house.

Every Halloween, they host what a Potato Bar, which is basically for adults and kids to warm up or calm down. They provide baked potatoes with lots of toppings (including my aunts amazing green chilli) as well as drinks and chips and dips. Its pretty much open to all the family and friends.

My aunt gave me the task, since I was quote, "so nicely dressed up" to hand out the candy at the door. So, I kinda commandeered a chair by the door (there was a surprising amount of kids out this year, since its actually pretty nice for Halloween--its usually a LOT colder). When I wasn't handing out candy and/or sitting in the arm chair, I was running around as the "unofficial" photographer" of the whole shindig.

It got pretty crowded for a while, with the kids all there, the adults all there, and everyone hanging out and having a good time. We had a couple old-school scary movies going on the TV (as well as the football games--they kept switching channels so I stopped trying to actually pay attention to the movies, lol), and we had a lot of conversations going at once, it was great.

Brian Flynn came around with his daughter T&Ting and we invited them to come in after they finished, which they did. This ended with me getting a shadow for the remainder of the night in the form of an adorable 5 year old dressed as a "witch fairy" (she was adamant about the distinction). She helped me hand out candy and at one point, cuddled into my lap as we waited for some new T&Ters

Cut for BIG Pictures )

So...How was everyone elses Halloween?

Extra Note: NANO starts here in about 2 hours--OMFG, I NEED A PLOT!

So, Its been the 3 Home Game weekend for the volleyball team (games Thursday, tonight, and tomorrow, which is Pink Night in support of Breast Cancer Awareness). My old roommate Mary is the captain and plays pretty much every game. When we were roommates, she tore one of the muscles in her knee during a game and had to have surgery--she pretty munch was benched the remainder of the season.

Tonight, she broke the school record for assists; I think it was something like 2K+ for her career which is pretty good when you consider she got benched for half a season--and she still has seven games left of this season (her last) plus the RMAC tournament.

Very proud of her--she's earned it.

In other v-ball news, I came this close to yelling at a couple of parents about reigning in their kids. I can understand letting them play in the bleachers, they were pre-school age and probably not all that interested in a collegiate volleyball game, but when people started moving away after the first set then they really should have done something.

Also? I am NOT a jungle gym that the munchkins could crawl all over. *glowers*

Apparently PMC2 gave me the Con bug because I have decided to go to StarFest 2011, a sci-fi convention held every April (15-17) in Denver. My friends Kristi and Katie want to go too and my mother has expressed interest as well. If Kristi goes, she'll be cosplaying as the Tenth Doctor. I may even give in and finish my purple SPD uniform. I'll prolly be the only PR cosplayer but oh well. :)

Ticket prices may change but for SF 2010, the 3 Day tickets were $49/pre-registered, VIP 3 Day was $84/pre-reg, and Platinum was $125 and actually gets you into ComicFest and HorrorFest as well as StarFest. I'll probably go Platinum.

This past StarFest had Summer Glau, Mirina Sirtis, Garret Wang, & Christopher Judge among others. I actually heard about StarFest when I saw an old friend post a picture of her with Chris Judge on Facebook and spent an hour trying to find out when that was, lol.

Given its in Denver, that cuts down on travel costs by a LOT. Since a large group from the school would be going, we might even have an easier time with transportation as well. Carpool FTW!

If my mom goes, we'll probably get our own hotel room but if she doesn't (and she might not, she really wants to go to the Star Trek con in Vegas next August), I'll probably go in on a hotel room with the ASC group.

I can tell you one thing though--if they finally get David Tennant to come (they've been trying for a while) then Kristi, Katie, and I will be going whether we can afford a room or not. It'll be April, we can sleep in the car. We've already made this pact, lol.

I was invited by my roommate to a group, collegiate dinner tonight, where every week a group from one of the local churches take turns offering home-cooked meals for the college kids. There was about 25 of us this week, which is the most they've ever had, but we had a blast and I think the church people did to.

How does this connect with werewolves? Well...

So, after dinner, a group of about 7 of us decided to play, you guessed it, Werewolf (the supernatural equivelant of MAFIA). If you haven't played Werewolf/Mafia, the game starts with everyone picking a card from a deck. There are the active players, then one guy who acts as the moderator/God of the game. In Werewolf, there are several cards:

Villager: Plain villager, no extra abilities whatsoever.
Cupid: Chooses two lovers to fall in love. If one of them dies, the other one dies too.
Seer: A seer (I cant remember if they can save or not).
Witch: Can heal or kill; they don't know who the vicitim is though so...
Werewolves: Werewolves in the village, who kill (or try to) kill someone each night.
Sherrif: Sherrif of the town is not handed out blindly, its voted upon--used if there's an even number of players (besides God), to break ties.

So, the way the game is played, everyone closes their eyes, (sleep) and the werewolves are then "woken up" by God and choose someone to kill. They choose and then go back to sleep. Then each of the other special players "wake up" and do what their card says they can--the witch chooses, for example, if they want to heal someone or kill someone without knowing who's been attacked by the wolves. In the "morning," you find out if anyone died and then accuse people of being the werewolves. They can state their case for NOT being the werewolf and everyone votes whether to kill them or save them. Easy peasy, right?

We started with, I think, 7 players in the first round and ended with 14 in the last. I played all rounds and finally managed to get a werewolf card in the final game. With the extra people, a new card was introduced: The Cursed, who has werewolf bloodlines but isn't a werewolf themselves--unless the wolves try to eat him, then they become one. And you never know if the cursed has turned so you don't know how many wolves you have.

We managed, in the final round, to kill off everyone but me (original werewolf), Kelso (the Cursed/Turned Werewolf/Sherriff), and Andrea (a villager). Kelso and Andrea were the lovers. And because Kelso couldn't turn against his "lover", I got eaten and everyone was like...You're the original werewolf?! :D

I'm not sure who had more fun though, us playing the game or the adults watching us play. :D

So, my vacation officially started Thursday morning. Me, being the insane-crazy-idiot I can sometimes be, went to bed at about 1am Thursday morning. I was woken up two hours later at 3am and were on the road by 4:10am.

Yeeeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhh. Jade sleep in car, please, kthanx.

The drive through NM to AZ was fun. I will post pics later. Much much later.

Today, to kill time before we could check into the hotel in AZ, we visited family. My cousin had a baby a little over a week ago--I held him for most of the first visit and a good portion of the second. I also played with Nicholas' two year old sister and five year old cousin--they were so cute and adorable and sweet! Then we stopped by and said hi to [personal profile] purplestripe66 at work. At first we kinda looked at each other cause we weren't sure (in my defense, she was wearing a HAT and I've never seen her in a hat) but then realized hey! Its her!

Then there was hugs. Ruby gives the best hugs. :D And from the excited chatter, I think my dad figured out we're both excited for our trip!

Introduced the family, discussed a few things. Dad admitted he was gonna stalk her house tomorrow so he knows where he's going Sunday morning when we pick her up (am hoping [personal profile] tsukino_akume is there so I can say hi on Sunday morning). I am also supposed to call and make sure Ruby is actually awake before we leave.

Afterwards we went back to visit with family some more and surprised my aunt and uncle, who did not know we were coming.

Then I got a shock. When I was fourteen, I really wanted my grandmothers jewelry box. It'd been passed from oldest daughter to oldest daughter and when grandma died, it went to my aunt. She doesn't have kids though so she decided it was going to me. I'm not technically the oldest girl but...yeah. My aunt and mom agreed I would take better care of it than my cousin. So I got the jewelry box while visiting her. My sister got a turqiose bracelet that originally belonged to our great great grandmother.

Tomorrow is my uncle again and then [profile] clex_monki89 for visiting and quite possibly another kidnapping attempt. >.< Also? FOOOOOOD! Then Sunday we head out to California.

I was gonna do more in depth posts about the trip and I'll try once we get to California (Ruby can help!) but am too tired. I will have pictures eventually. :D

My friend Kelly recently found out she's pregnant. She's beyond excited but her husband can't seem to stop teasing her about the way they found out.

She was at the dentist and because she has medical problems. They had to do blood work. Kelly had already been drugged up slightly though so she doesn't remember the dentist coming back in and announcing that she's pregnant.

Afterwards, when she woke up, she asked for Vicodin but her husband told her the dentist didn't prescribe it and that she can't have any. She insisted he was wrong and demanded the Vicodin. He finally asked her if she remembered what the dentist had told her before she went under and she said no. He told her she was pregnant but she didn't believe him, for like, two days. Finally, he had to go buy a home pregnancy test. She did it, thinking he was being stupid but lo and behold...lol.

She's thrilled, even if she is panicking about the name. She's still got, like, six months to go but her mind doesn't seem to want to accept that. She knows she shouldn't be panicking but she can't seem to help herself. :/

I am so freakin tired, you all have no idea. Finals week is officially over. I spent all of today taking two finals, helping my roommate cram all her stuff in her truck, move some new furniture in, I went to the bank, and we still have to clean the kitchen and bathroom. I'm leaving the living room until after I get all the furniture I'm babysitting for the summer/next semester.

Also? My math class starts Monday. FML.

Its the end of the semester which means everyone and their mother are throwing things out as they prepare to go home for the summer. Instead of just letting perfectly good stuff go to waste, however, the housing office hosts a Swap Shop, where you can basically drop off unwanted clothes, jewelry, furniture--the odds and ends you would normally decide to get rid of. Anyone can come in and take stuff and all the leftovers go to the local thrift store that's ran by the homeless shelter.

I totally went in with the intention of dropping off a few things and came back with a laundry basket of clothes and a box of picture frames, jewelry, and a piggy bank. *facepalms*

In other news, I GOT THE ROOMMATE I WANTED FOR NEXT YEAR!

*cough*

If you can't tell, I'm a little excited about this. Jullia and I have been praying to be roommates and we weren't sure it would happen since she's gonna be a sophomore and I live in the junior/senior apartments.

Since I'm staying on campus, a few friends are using me as a storage unit for the summer and fall semester. My RA friend Angela is loaning her monster coach to me so she doesn't have to store it somewhere next year as she does her student teaching up in Springs.

Tonight is softball practice and then Wednesday is our first game. I should find out then what position I'm playing. :)
jadelyntate: (laughs)
My friend Angela was talking with her husband Jordan on the phone as they laid in bed the other night. Jordan is currently touring Renaissance Fairs with a weapons smith he's working for. I honestly have no idea how they managed to get onto the topic, but they began discussing who they would invite in for a threesome.

Angela said her top female pick was Kat, a mutual friend of all three of us. Jordan said his was me.

Angela informed me of this about half an hour ago while I was hanging out with her and another RA, Gio. Gio (who is gay) groaned that he didn't need to hear that and Angela assured him that he was her number one guy.

He was not amused when Angela and I cracked up laughing at how red he turned.

Also? I turned in my giant s'mores reproduction of the Globe Theatre. Sarah (professor) was stoked, despite the fact it had gummy bears (she's phobic).

Reason #1) They turned my PMC2 trip into a family vacation so I don't have to spend as much and will be in California for a week instead of three days.

Reason #2) When my dad mentioned our hotel sleeps 6, I asked for clarification. He didn't bat an eye before asking "Why, you got a friend who needs a place to crash for the Con?" He then agreed to pick up [personal profile] purplestripe66 on our way through AZ, let her crash with us in California, and drop her back off on our way home.

So, Ruby will be coming with us because she won't have to spend a gazillion dollars for, like, three days. I

Power Morphicon needs to be, like, now. *nods firmly*
