Thoughts on Graduating from University
May. 12th, 2012 07:57 amIn about two hours I will be a college graduate from Adams State College/University (they're officially changing the name on the 19th, go figure).
Its been a long 7 years and I'm not sure how I feel about it as I sit in my apartment and get ready. One second I'm bouncing cause I'm so excited and relieved and the next...the next I'm looking around and close to tears because...its over. I'm done.
I've been a student for over twenty years now and I have no idea what I'm going to do with myself.
Its weird, you know, graduating. You get so used to the idea that, yeah, I'm leaving campus for the summer but I'll be back in August. But when you graduate, you WON'T be back in August, you won't be back unless you decide to do something crazy and get another degree, a Masters or a doctorate.
I didn't feel like this when I graduated high school because I knew where I was going to be come August. I don't know that right now and...it terrifies me.
I don't like change.
I guess though, that in the end, change is inevitable. Everyone suffers from it, everyone goes through change at least once in their life. Its something I have to come to terms with.
But that doesn't mean I have to like it.
