As most know, I joined a summer softball league, specifically hometown community center sponsored team. We had three practices before games started and we have twenty members on our team. 12 members of the team didn't show up to a single practice. First game, the starters consisted of four of the eight who showed up to at least one practice--of the other six, only one had a legitimate excuse for not coming to the pre-season practices. At the end of the game, when it was obvious we were gonna win and we only had fifteen minutes left, the co-captain switched out eight of the ten people in the field (you can have up to ten people as long as at least five are girls--its co-ed). The two people who were not switched out were me and my mother. My mother was at every single practice and I only missed one because I had a final.

Not to bad, right?

Second and third games, guess who are the only two who, again, were not put in?

Today, we were supposed to have a game at 6:30 that would end when one team was up by 15, we'd gone through all 9 innings, or the hour allotment was done (joys of the leisure league, right?). My dad, who is the second co-captain, asked to see the line-up as we were getting ready. Robert (the prick) said no and walked away.

My dad quit then and there because he's sick of Robert's obvious favoritism/nepotism (his daughter is EXTREMELY overweight, hasn't been to a single practice this season or last, and all last season complained about having to run--Robert kept her on 1st base despite all this and when my father suggested Catcher would be better, she went postal cause it wasn't "glorious" enough. Guess where Robert put her this year? 1st base). I am the ONLY one who hits the ball every single time I am at bat. I know when to swing and when not to. At the one scrimmage we had, I was consistently getting people out at second. Softball is the ONE sport I'm insanely good at. Even a few of the other members of the team kept wondering why he didn't put me in. The thing is, he doesn't like our family. The only reason he tolerates my dad and made him co-captain is cause he's smart enough to realize he's not going to get a better pitcher--my dad nearly had a no-hitter last season.

So. To make a long story short, my dad is not going back unless Robert A) apologizes, B) keeps to the team rule about having to be at practices in order to play, and C) actually play me and my mom. Since this is about as likely as the Cubs making the World Series sometime this decade, we're not holding our breathes.
